Why this exists
There's a moment when treatment finishes and the support that carried you simply stops. I've heard versions of that story from people in Finland, in Switzerland and here at home in the UK, and it's remarkable how alike they sound.
This podcast lives in that gap: what it's actually like, which help is out there and worth finding, and why something so many people in cancer care seem to know about still has no plan or budget behind it.
Who's asking
I'm Mike Kinnaird. I spent years as a BBC radio producer and journalist, and I've never had cancer myself. That distance helps: I can hear the language clearly and ask the obvious question that people inside the system rarely have time to. My guests are the experts.
I make this on my own, with no organisation behind it. It’s supported privately by one person whose own life has been touched by cancer, and who works outside healthcare. Nobody gets to tell me which questions are off limits.
Seen a gap nobody's talking about?
If you're a clinician, nurse, researcher, campaigner, or someone living with what comes after treatment, wherever you are in the world, I'd like to hear from you.

Your treatment team, specialist nurse or family doctor can still help after treatment has ended, and can point you to free support where you live. If you've lost touch with them, it's fine to call and ask.
